How to use AI within a marketing framework

AI can help a small business create marketing faster. It can also produce confident-sounding copy that knows very little about your customers. A simple framework keeps the work grounded in what your business is trying to achieve.

Start with a real goal

Choose a goal your team can recognise, such as more enquiries for bathroom renovations in your service area or more repeat work from property managers. Decide who you want to reach and what action you want them to take. Without this step, AI will usually return broad ideas that could belong to any business.

Give AI useful source material

Share your service descriptions, customer questions, project notes, approved photos and examples of your tone. Remove private customer details unless you have a suitable process and permission to use them. Ask AI to organise themes, suggest questions to answer or produce a first draft. Treat the output as working material.

For example, a renovator could turn notes from five recent projects into a list of common planning questions. A designer could use those questions to draft an article explaining their process. The team then adds details from real work and checks every claim.

Keep a human review step

Someone who knows the business should check prices, service areas, technical advice, promises and whether the language sounds like your team. They should also decide what to publish and where it belongs in the customer journey. A polished draft with inaccurate details can create more work than it saves.

Measure what happens next

Use AI to help summarise campaign feedback or spot repeated questions in enquiries. Compare those patterns with actual results. Did the content bring useful conversations? Did people understand the offer? Were the leads a good fit?

AI is most valuable when it helps your team think, make and learn. Your business still supplies the judgment and the experience that make the marketing worth reading.
