Meta advertising for your business: what to get right first
Facebook and Instagram ads can put your business in front of people who have not searched for you yet. That makes them useful for services customers may consider over time, such as a renovation, new kitchen or landscape project. The advert alone will not make the sale.
Begin with the work you want
Choose a specific service, area and customer. “We do renovations” gives someone little reason to respond. “Planning a bathroom renovation in Perth's southern suburbs? See our design and build process” gives a clearer idea of who the advert is for and what happens next.
Your offer does not have to be a discount. It might be a design consultation, a project guide, an inspection or a useful way to request a quote. Make sure your team can deliver what the advert promises.
Match the creative to the service
Show actual work where possible. A short explanation from the owner, a project walkthrough or a clear photo can help someone judge whether your business is right for them. Test more than one message. One person may care about the finished result, while another wants to understand the process and timeline.
Plan the step after the click
Some campaigns use an in-platform lead form. Others send people to a landing page. Choose based on the information you need and how quickly your team can respond. Keep the advert and destination consistent. If the advert promises kitchen design help, the next screen should discuss kitchen design, not every service you offer.
Track enquiries, but also ask which ones fit your service area and budget. Respond promptly and record whether they became appointments, quotes or jobs. If clicks look promising but bookings do not follow, review the page and follow-up before increasing spend.
Meta advertising works best as part of a connected process: the right message, a relevant next step and a team ready to take the conversation forward.
